Housing Options
Note: Dancers under 18 years old who stay in BJDW-arranged housing must be accompanied by an adult chaperone (teacher, parent, older sibling, etc). There must be at least one chaperone for every 10 minors. If staying elsewhere, out of town minors are expected to have a designated adult supervisor as well. BJDW does not provide or arrange for chaperones.

BJDW has arranged for dancers to stay in the University of Colorado’s Athens North Apartments. If you attended BJDW in the past, please note that apartments at Varsity Townhouses are not an option for 2010.

Athens North Apartments

These are on-campus furnished apartments, originally designed for married students. BJDW will make all arrangements for dancers who are attending the Weekend Workshop and/or the Two-Week Intensive.
Space is limited – early reservations are recommended!

• Located on campus (on Athens Street, between 18th & 19th Streets) about 10 minutes walk from the Dance Building
• Air conditioned! (yes, it does get very hot in Boulder in summer!)
• Wireless internet access
• Each apartment includes the following: a kitchen, 2 full bathrooms, two bedrooms (with a total of 4-5 single beds), and a study room with desks & chairs
• Secured building, with 24-hour check-in
• Laundry facilities in the building
• A packet of bed sheets, towel, washcloth, pillow and blanket is provided for your stay. Residents are responsible for washing their own linen during their stay. Linen and towels are not exchanged during your stay.
• BJDW will provide a basic set of kitchen supplies (dishes, utensils, pots & pans) and other household items (cleaning products, etc)
• Minors must be accompanied by an adult chaperone (not necessarily in the same room); there must be at least 1 adult for every 10 minors
• Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the building
• The apartments do not have TVs or telephones
• Parking is available in nearby CU parking lots (purchase a permit at check-in: $22/week; permits for less than one week are available only at the Parking Services Office) or on nearby residential streets (but availability there is extremely limited)
• If you prefer not to cook for yourself, meals can be purchased at any of the many nearby restaurants on and off campus.

Prices include all taxes and charges. The apartments are offered at a package rate so even if you check-in late or leave early, you must pay for the entire package. However, it is possible to check-in early and pay for one extra night. It is not possible to stay after Sunday 8/1.

Package A
Weekend Workshop - 3 nights: check-in Friday 7/16, check-out Monday 7/19
$126 for a shared room / $159 a for private room

Package B
Two-Week Intensive - 16 nights: check-in Friday 7/16, check-out Sunday 8/1
$575 for a shared room / $757 a for private room

Other accommodations
(turn-key apartments, motels, B & B's. Automobile or public transportation may be necessary.)

Short-term housing close to campus is difficult to find and can be quite expensive. After extensive research BJDW has determined that Athens North is the best option for our dancers. If you wish to make other arrangements, Housing Helpers (see below) or a similar service may be able to provide a good alternative, but before deciding to rent a place, be sure to consider things such as the distance from the Dance Building, extra time needed to commute to & from campus, and having to wait for a bus or find a parking space each day.

If searching independently for housing on the internet (through Craigslist, etc), beware of rental fraud! Proceed at your own risk! To avoid scams, you should have someone local check out any property you are considering renting through these channels. BJDW does not provide this service.

They have properties in various locations around town. All of their properties are quite nice, fully furnished turn-key apartments (everything is provided: linens, TV, Phone, DVD, fully equipped kitchen, etc.). Their shortest lease is for 1 month and they are pricey but generally cheaper than most hotels.
