    Information for Teachers

Here’s what we offer teachers:

New ideas and material to inspire and refresh + our DanceTeacher magazine recognized continuing education program and certificate of completion. (see details below).

Teachers who register 3 or 4 new “full-time” students*, will get 50% off “core” classes (discount for teacher only, students pay full price).

Teachers who register 5 or more new “full time” students* to the workshop will get free “core” classes (discount for teacher only, students pay full price).

*Full-time students are those who sign up for at least six (6) Core Classes. The Core Classes are Ballet Barre, Contemporary Ballet Barre, Modern, Noon Jazz, Lyrical Jazz, Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, Approaches to Turns, Auditioning 101, and Core & More Cool Down.

PLEASE NOTE: Returning students do not count towards number of students for teacher discounts.

University of Colorado Graduate Level Credit - 1 unit of graduate level credit is available for qualified students in the continuing education program. See College Credit for information.

 


2008 BJDW Teacher Training: Continuing Education Program
Recognized by DanceTeacher Magazine.


This program is geared towards teachers of jazz dance for teens and adults in any of the following settings: middle or high school dance programs, private studios, community colleges, and four-year college/university dance programs. Upon completion of the course of study described below, the participant will receive a DanceTeacher Magazine Certificate of Completion. The Continuing Education Program includes selected classes from the BJDW curriculum. The intent of the program is to inspire, offer fresh approaches, and evoke reflection. Graduate level college credit is available, however requirements are more extensive. See College Credit.

Enrollment in or attendance at the following classes and events is required:

• Level II or III* jazz technique classes: Noon Jazz or Lyrical Jazz
• Modern Jazz or Tap Master Class
• Approaches to Turns or Hip Hop
• The Art of Teaching – Pedagogy class

Plus one of the following classes of your choosing:
• Jazz Funk
• Auditioning 101

• Core & More

(NOTE: Teachers are allowed to either participate or observe classes but must enroll in the above classes to receive the Completion Certificate)

*For Level III, level placement is required but we sometimes make an exception for some teachers.

Participants may observe any classes held in Studio 150 (the Dance Building's largest studio, with observation balcony) during the Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop at no additional charge.

Additional requirement: The completion of a learning outcome worksheet to be provided during the workshop that must be turned in by Wednesday, July 30, 2008 for verification.
